RAWALPINDI: An expatriate was robbed of $10,000 by two unidentified gunmen in the bustling commercial area of Rawalpindi Saddar on Monday, police said Abu Bakr, a Pakistani expatriate who works in Iraq, returned to Rawalpindi to celebrate Eidul Fitr.

He, however, lost his money when two unidentified motorcyclists intercepted him and snatched away the foreign currency.

In his complaint, he said that he had taken about $6,500 from his house and came to a bank in Saddar to withdraw another $3,500 which he intended to convert to Pakistani rupees.

He said after withdrawing the money from the bank, he found two motorcyclists following him as he headed to the money changer.

The victim added in his complaint that the motorcyclists forced him to stop and pulled out their pistols.

The gunmen forced Abu Bakr to give up the bag of money and threatened to kill him if he resisted. The robber managed to escape with the loot.
