Clash over land leaves one dead in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: One person was killed and two others were injured when rival groups clashed over a land dispute in Hazar Khwani area here on Sunday evening.

An official of Yakatoot police station said the armed clash resulted into death of Shaukat of Ghandal Shah, and injuries to his brother, Riaz Khan. One person, Usman of Sher Dil Khan, was injured from the other group.

The injured persons were shifted to Lady Reading Hospital where they were stated to be in critical condition.

Both the groups got registered cases against each other. However, no one was arrested till filing of this report.

In Mansehra, two people were killed and a child was injured when a speeding truck hit a motorbike in the city area on Sunday.

People took the injured, Mohammad Iftikhar, Mohammad Raees and Zarar, 7, to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where doctors pronounced both Raees and Iftikhar as dead.

Police said the truck hit the motorcycle while overtaking it in Dub area on Karakoram Highway. The city police arrested the driver and began investigation into the case.

In Ghalanai, five persons got injures in a road accident on Sunday. Police said that a passenger coach going to Shabqadar from Mohmand Agency fell into a deep ravine near Chopan checkpost on Peshawar-Bajaur road.

The injured, including the driver and three security personnel, were shifted to hospital. Condition of one of the injured was stated to be critical.

In Karak, three members of a family suffered serious burn injuries when a room in their house caught fire due to gas leakage in Teri on Sunday.

Police said that fire erupted in the house of Tariq Khan as the room was filled with natural gas due to a leaking pipeline. As a result, Tariq Khan, Qaisar Khan and Awal Khan suffered injuries while trying to put out the fire.

The injured were immediately shifted to civil hospital Teri for treatment, where doctors referred them to Peshawar in precarious condition.

Meanwhile, a man was deprived of his motorcycle by unknown car lifters at gunpoint.

Wahid Gul told police he was going from Takht-i-Nusrati to Showa Nusrati when unidentified armed men intercepted him near Shahidan Banda and snatched his motorcycle.

Police registered case and began investigation.
