Boy accuses police of protecting his father’s killer

PESHAWAR: A young boy of Badbher has accused local police of supporting the killer of his father and avoiding to arrest him despite registration of FIR against the alleged murderer.

Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club here on Saturday, Shehzad Khan of Badshah Kandi locality said that his father, Yaqoob Khan, a Wapda employee, was killed by one Rahat while on way to office on Nov 6, 2010.

“We got a case registered against the alleged killer at Badbher police station but police didn’t arrest him so far,” he said.

Accompanied by his three younger brothers, Mr Shehzad said that his family was forced to vacate its own house. “We have shifted to Maryamzai Mera since the death of my father where we have no source of income except working in agriculture fields of the local land owners,” he said.

Shehzad said that the police had failed to arrest the killer who had been visiting foreign countries without any hindrance.

The complainant demanded of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani to take notice of the negligence on part of the Badbher police.

KIDNAPPED STUDENT, DOCTOR UNTRACED: Hayatabad police have failed to recover a kidnapped student and a doctor.

Naveed Akbar had been kidnapped by armed men from outside his residence in phase-6 of Hayatabad and the abductors have demanded Rs60 million ransom for his release. Naveed is the younger brother of Mohammad Saif Orakzai, head of National Peace Committee for Interfaith Harmony in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
