Model Town case: ATC extends bail for SP security

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court on Saturday extended the interim bail of Superintendent of Police (SP) Security Sulaiman Khan, who had allegedly ordered policemen to open fire on protesters in Lahore's Model Town, and constable Abid Ali to August 9.

The case was heard by ATC-lll Judge Haroon Latif.

Earlier, the ATC had granted an extension in the interim bail of the two accused in the Lahore tragedy until July 26.

FIA gets scent of Qadri’s ‘graft’

On June 17, clashes between supporters of Dr Tahirul Qadri’s Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and Lahore police had left at least eight dead and dozens others injured.

The initial report of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) constituted to probe the Model Town tragedy had revealed that SP Sulaiman had ordered elite force personnel to open fire on protesters.


Sana and Tauqir cross-examined


A single-judge Model Town inquiry tribunal had yesterday cross-examined former law minister Rana Sanaullah, chief minister’s former principal secretary Dr Tauqir Shah and many police officers during in-camera proceedings.

ISI Deputy Director Asad Ali Khan submitted an analysis report of eight mobile phone numbers, owned by top political and administrative authorities.

Following which, the tribunal made that report part of the record and directed the officer to submit a final report on the next hearing (today).

Moreover, a report was also submitted on behalf of federal secretary establishment Nadeem Hasan Asif narrating facts and circumstances which prompted the government to transfer the Punjab Inspector General of Police.
