Action against SHO ordered for defying court order

KARACHI: A sessions court ordered on Thursday departmental action against the station house officer of the Bahadurabad police station for defying a court order.

The district and sessions judge (east), Arshad Noor Khan, asked the senior superintendent of police (east) to take departmental action against the Zaibunnisa SHO and sought a compliance report by July 28.

A court official said that the sessions court had appointed a nazir as a raid commissioner on July 21 and asked him to raid a house in Bahadurabad under police protection for the recovery of four persons. The raid commissioner with a court order approached the Bahadurabad police station, but the SHO not only refused to cooperate, but also barred him from entering the police station, he added.

Preventive detention

The Pakistan Rangers informed on Thursday an anti-terrorism court about the 90-day preventive detention of three suspects for questioning.

The personnel of the paramilitary force produced Kamran, aka Raja; Nadeem, aka Repeater; and Kamran Siraj in the chamber of Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso of the ATC-III.

They informed the court that the suspects were picked up in district east and they had credible information about their involvement in terrorism-related activities falling within the ambit of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), 1997.

They further said that the suspects were placed under preventive detention for three months under Section 11EEEE (1) of the ATA.
