Bodies of three men buried alive eight days ago retrieved

MITHI: The bodies of all the three labourers belonging to the Bheel community were taken out from a well that had caved in some eight days ago in the Unro village of Nagarparkar, it emerged on Thursday.

Labourers Ramchand, Mansingh and Altaf Bheel were buried under mud when the well they were working in caved in, making it difficult for villagers and district administration to retrieve the bodies, according to eyewitnesses.

It was only after week-long efforts that the villagers finally disinterred the bodies on Wednesday evening. The bodies were decomposed, emitting a pungent smell. The four labourers digging the earth to locate the bodies had fainted before sweepers were called in from Nagarparkar tehsil to take out the bodies.

Late Wednesday night, a team of doctors arrived at the village. Following a post-mortem examination, they handed over the bodies to their relatives for last rites and burial.

Meanwhile, PML-N lawmaker Dr Ramesh Wankwani and Pakistan Hindu Council president Chelaram Kewalani visited the village, offered condolences to and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families.
