Ammunition seized

RAWALPINDI: Police on Wednesday claimed they had seized huge cache of arms and ammunition from a vehicle they intercepted at Chakri Interchange and arrested two persons.

The vehicle was coming from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

During search, 20 rifles of 30-bore semi-automatic, three rifles off 223 bore, four pistols of 30-bore with five magazines, 47,000 rounds of 30 bore, 2,000 rounds of 7mm, 1,000 rounds of Kalashnikovs with silencer, one telescope and 22 magazines were recovered.

When contacted the station house officer Chontra, Malik Rafaqat, said investigations were underway as it would be too early to say why they were carrying a large number of arms and ammunitions.

However, Inspector Rafaqat said the consignment was being transported to Lahore.
