Two LDA plots fetch Rs88.7m

LAHORE: Two commercial-cum-residential plots of the Lahore Development Authority were sold on Monday for Rs88.7 million in an open auction held at the LDA’s Muslim Town community centre here on Monday.

According to a spokesman, the plots in Johar Town fetched the highest price, much more than the base price assessed by the evaluation wing of the State Bank of Pakistan.

“The corner plot No 305, situated in Johar Towns block H-III and measuring about 27 marla, was auctioned for Rs67.1 million.

Though its base price was evaluated at Rs1.5 million per marla, it fetched over Rs2.5 million per marla price,” the spokesman claimed in a statement. He said the plot No 305/1 measuring 12-marla of the same block was sold for over Rs21.6 million. Its base price was assessed at Rs1.4 million, but it fetched Rs1.8 million per marla price, he said.

The spokesman said that auction proceedings were organized and monitored by senior officials of the LDA, including directors (Finance, Land Development and Estate Management).

DRUG COURT: The District Quality Control Board of the City District Government sent on Monday cases of 27 medical stores to a drug court for initiating legal proceedings against their owners for violating drug rules and regulations.

In a meeting presided over by the district officer (monitoring), the board heard 37 cases of medical stores, forwarded 27 of them to court and issued warning to owners of four medical stores.

It also ordered the de-sealing of two stores and pended cases of four others till next meeting.

ARRESTED: Various price control magistrates arrested on Monday 32 shopkeepers on charges of hoarding and overcharging.

They also conducted on-the-spot summary trial of 11 of them and sent them to jail. They also imposed a fine of Rs175,500 on several other shopkeepers.

LAUDED: The CDGL on Monday appreciated officials of town municipal administrations and other departments concerned for making solid measures during Youmi Ali’s mourning processions on Sunday.

According to a spokesman, the CDGL will award appreciation certificates to a number of officials deputed at the route of processions.
