Youth shot dead in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Unidentified motorcyclists shot dead a youth near the vegetable market in Peshawar city here on Wednesday evening.

An official of Khan Raziq police station said that the victim was identified as Zahir Shah, who is a relative of Maulana Fazal Haq, a leader of banned Sipah-i-Sahaba. “He was in the vegetable market close to Pepal Mandi when unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle opened fire on him. He was rushed to Lady Reading Hospital but couldn’t survive there,” the official said.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested a car lifter who had also stolen a car owned by a sessions judge in Islamabad. A police spokesman identified the suspect as Azizullah.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police Nasir Khan Durrani suspended DSP, Rural Mardan, Abdus Samad Khan for his links with car lifters. He was sent to the central police office.

The IGP had received various complaints against the police official that he had close association with auto thieves. He was also alleged to have failed to take action against militants.

The KP police chief took the action after getting these complaints confirmed from the senior police officers of Mardan region.

Mr Durrani made it clear that those bringing bad name to the force would not be spared.
