Airport security

APROPOS your editorial ‘Aviation security’ (June 26). With aerial firing going on almost every day throughout the country, it is surprising that until now, we have never had an aircraft being struck by bullets.

Moreover, as many people have pointed out after the Karachi airport saga, Peshawar airport is uncomfortably close to residential areas and the city needs a new airport at some distance from the city.

But before that can be done, all areas around all airports in the country should be made weapons-free, and the ban on aerial firing should be strictly enforced.

This may appear to be a tall order, it is, however, essential for our safety.
