Model Town Tragedy: ATC grants bail to SP security

LAHORE: An anti-terrorism court in Lahore Saturday granted bail to Superintendent of Police (SP) Security Sulaiman Khan who allegedly ordered police to open fire on Model Town protesters, DawnNews reported.

Sulaiman’s bail was approved till July 19.

The initial report of the JIT constituted to investigate the Model Town tragedy revealed that SP Sulaiman had ordered elite force personnel to open fire on protesters.

In a statement recorded to the JIT, Elite Force in-charge Abdul Rauf said Sulaiman had ordered Elite Force personnel to target protesters on their legs.

The JIT's investigation today also revealed that SP Model Town Mujahid Raheem Sherazi had fired 200 shots on protesters.

Raheem had modified the record of the incident and presented it to investigation teams, according to the JIT's findings, whereas he was also guilty of subjecting women protesters to torture.
