PM invites Asif, Alamgir

KARACHI: Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has invited former world amateur snooker champion Mohammad Asif and Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Federation (PBSF) president Alamgir Shaikh to the Prime Minister House on Wednesday at 11am.

It may be mentioned that the proposed meeting has been postponed couple of times in the last three to four months due to premier’s hectic schedule.

The PBSF chief has sought time for the meeting from the prime minister’s secretariat to apprise him about the step-motherly treatment meted out to the game by the government.

“I’ll request the prime minister to become patron-in-chief of the PBSF besides requesting him to announce a special package for the games controlling body,” Alamgir told Dawn on the eve of his departure to Islamabad on Tuesday.

The PBSF chief said he will also request the premier to issue necessary instructions to the Pakistan Sports Board to pay the pending monetary rewards of Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Sajjad and Mohammad Majid Ali as per sports policy in addition to Pride of Performance award to Asif.
