Policeman shot dead in Sohrab Goth

KARACHI: A police constable was shot dead in Sohrab Goth on Friday morning, officials said.
They added that Allah Dino Mahar, 35, was taking water for his flat in Maymar Complex when armed men opened fire on him and fled.

The police said he was taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he was given medical treatment. Doctor said he had sustained two gunshot wounds in the neck and shoulder. After being provided with first aid, he was rushed to a private hospital on National Stadium Road where he died during treatment, the officials added.

They added that the victim hailed from Gambat in Khairpur district and was posted in the Garden police headquarters.

The police were investigating motive for the murder, said Sohrab Goth SHO Shoaib Ahmed.

While the police were not sure if the murder was linked to the ongoing targeted killing of policemen that increased following the launch of Rangers-led targeted operation in the metropolis, the authorities said that over 85 policemen had been killed so far this year.
