PPP won't back PTI's 'mid-term poll' move

LAHORE: The Pakistan People's Party has said the purpose of Tahreek-i-Insaf's anti-government campaign is to pave the way for mid-term polls.

"The PPP will not support the PTI in its effort for the mid-term elections," PPP central Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo told a news conference here on Saturday.

He said PTI chairman Imran Khan would withdraw his call for a 'long-march on Islamabad' before Eid because such a protest and military operation could not go along.

Wattoo said the PPP's organisational work at the district level had almost been completed. During the next two months the party would be strengthened at the union council and ward levels, he added.

He said the blood donation campaign for the army men participating in Zarb-i-Azb operation in North Waziristan would continue in Punjab, while the party would also set up relief camps for IDPs in the province.

He said Bilawal Bhuttto Zardari would address PPP workers' conventions to be held at the district level in September and October through video link.
