Lawyers thrash police at LHC, free fraud suspect

LAHORE: A group of lawyers subjected police to an audacious attack on the Lahore High Court premises on Monday after they tried to nab their client who was fleeing the court after cancellation of his bail in a fraud case.

Justice Alia Neelam rejected the pre-arrest bail plea of Shahzad Farooq after Qila Gujjar Singh police investigating officer Amjad produced evidence against the suspect.

After coming out of the courtroom, the accused tried to escape, but ASI Amjad and other cops nabbed and handcuffed him.

The police action annoyed Farooq's lawyers, who intercepted the cops outside the office of DSP security on the high court premises and started beating them up.

As the lawyers were giving a sound thrashing to the policemen with fists and kicks, the police personnel deployed at the LHC did not intervene. The lawyers took away their handcuffed client without any difficulty.
