SUKKUR, July 12: Chief Minister Sardar Ali Mohammad Khan Mahar warned irrigation officials to strengthen loop bund, repair all weak points of the entire Kutcha Bund, and remain alert at all times; otherwise strict action will be taken against them.

He issued this warning while talking to a delegation of growers in Ghotki on Thursday.

The growers told the chief minister that this year the risk of floods had been enhanced as the loop bunds were weak and breaches were developing on a daily basis.

The chief minister said that he would visit Qadirpur on Friday and personally monitor the situation of the area.

He said that the government was implementing a comprehensive policy to reduce poverty and to provide better living conditions for the people.

He said that funds worth Rs50 million had been released for the beautification and development of Mirpur Mathelo.

He urged multi-national companies to support the government towards the development of Ghotki and Mirpur Mathelo, and spend some portion of their income on the improvement of health and educational facilities in the area.

He emphasized the need to provide jobs to local people in their companies.

DEPLORED: The spokesperson of the Action Committee for the Restoration of Forcibly Sacked Sui Gas Employees, belonging to Sindh and Balochistan, has vehemently deplored the press statement of the senior manager, Sui Southern Gas Company, Hassan Nawab, in which he had said that his company had no room for further employment.

Spokesperson Inamullah Shaikh said the statement of the gas official was a contempt of the court while passing its judgment, had directed the SSGC to resolve the arbitrarily laid-off employees.
