Highway patrolling posts

KARACHI: Over 400 policemen are being trained for their deployment at 48 highway patrolling posts in the province, Sindh IG Iqbal Mehmood was informed at a meeting on Thursday.

The meeting on law and order, held at the Central Police Office, was told that the buildings of 48 highway patrolling posts were ready but steps were needed for the provision of power, water and sewerage facilities.

The IG sought a detailed report about the provision of necessary facilities to the posts so that after the revival of these posts, besides trained officials, vans and motorcycles could be provided for patrolling.

The meeting also reviewed in detail the performance of Madadgar 15. The IG constituted a committee comprising the additional IG (administration) and the additional IG (MT) and sought its recommendations within 24 hours to reactivate 15 Madadgar centres at sub-division level in Karachi.

The meeting also discussed in detail the progress of the central command and control centre. He was told that CCTV cameras had been fixed at 75 mobile vans, while the installation of more cameras was under way.
