Six injured as gas cylinder explodes at tea stall

KASUR: Six people suffered serious injuries when a gas cylinder exploded at a tea stall at Khai Chak 26 in the limits of Pattoki Sadar police station on Wednesday.

According to witnesses and police, the cylinder exploded at the makeshift tea stall owned by Saleem. As a result, the stall owner and some customers including Arslan, Fiaz, Sarfraz, Afzaal and Shafiq sustained injuries.

Owing to the explosion, the stalls’ makeshift roof also caught fire and the entire structure was reduced to ashes.

The injured were rushed to the local Basic Health Unit but were later referred to Jinnah Hospital, Lahore, because of their critical condition.

ACCIDENT: An eight-month old died on Wednesday while his parents suffered injuries in a hit-and-run incident on Ferozepur Road near Mustafabad police station.

Khadim Husain, along with his wife Hanifa Bibi and suckling Husnain, was on his way to Vadana village on his motorcycle.

Near the Government High School, a van hit the motorcycle from rear side, leaving the suckling dead on the spot.

Both the husband and wife suffered injuries and were taken to the district headquarters hospital.

The van driver sped away after the accident. Police are looking into the matter.
