Three arrested after ‘petrol bomb’ recovery

MULTAN: Police on Tuesday took into custody three suspects after a ‘petrol bomb’ was recovered near a sensitive installation in Cantonment area.

According to police, a citizen late on Monday informed them about suspicious material lying along the road in Qasim Bela area near a military checkpost established a few yards away from the offices of Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

Alarmed by the information, teams of cantonment police, security agencies and bomb disposal squad reached the spot and inactivated the time device attached to four petrol bottles.

Following the explosives recovery, the security agencies and police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation there.

Regional Police Officer Capt Amin Wains visited the spot, besides paying a visit to the ISI offices.

He said three suspects had been taken into custody in connection with the incident that seemed to be aimed at creating panic in the area.
