Matta Bazaar closure irks people

MINGORA: People are facing great difficulties due to closure of the Matta Bazaar for an indefinite period by the law enforcement agencies after the killing of a Pakistan Muslim League-N activist by unknown assailants on April 16.

Swat deputy commissioner Syed Imtiaz Hussain Shah told Dawn the market was closed as businessmen were not cooperating with the relevant officials in the investigation process to arrest the killers of PML-N activist.

He said the market would reopen only after the people helped the police trace the culprits.

Meanwhile, at least 16 children were injured when a pickup overturned near Guli Bagh area of Swat on Sunday.

The injured were identified as Barkat Ali, Bakht Rawan, Sher Mohammad, Waqas, Abu Bakar, Arif, Iftikhar, Asmatullah, Hazrat Hussain, Hazrat Usman, Said Ali Shah, Asif, Jebran, Jamil and Slaman. The local people took the injured to hospitals in Khwazakhela and Saidu Sharif.
