Recruitment criterion

BE it government, semi-government, autonomous or private organisations, they are recruiting according to a particular criterion.

Some organisations require the most recent degree to be in first class and a fixed percentage as well. Some allow only two second divisions, while some want only one second division in one’s academic career.

This is a shortlisting procedure for many organisations so that only a limited number of candidates can apply for the limited seats.

Actually, it is impossible for all candidates to get the highest marks in their examinations. In Pakistan, the cheating culture is rampant and the truth about intermmediate boards is also not hidden. The government has not made laudable efforts as yet to control this serious issue.

Therefore, it is not necessary that those who have a first class or the highest marks are the most intelligent and fit for the job.

Nowadays aptitude, screening tests and interviews are being conducted to recruit the right candidate for the job. Therefore, a candidate’s knowledge can be gauged through a written test and subsequent interviews.

I request the government and all heads of private and public-sector organisations to look into the matter seriously, also keeping in view the unemployment situation.

All interested candidates should be given an opportunity because the present recruitment creates discontent among youths.
