Most US visas go to investors from China

More than 80pc of last year’s special US visas for immigrant entrepreneurs were issued to people from China, up from just 13pc a decade ago, according to CNN. The EB-5 visa program, which requires a commitment of $500,000 and a promise to create 10 jobs in America, is increasingly affordable to entrepreneurs in China, where household wealth is booming. The US program is inexpensive in comparison with, say, Australia’s, which requires an investment of $4.5 million.
