Atif Bokhari resigns as UBL president

KARACHI: President and CEO of the United Bank Limited (UBL), Atif R Bokhari, has decided to resign after 10 years at the helm, according to a press release issued on Friday.

During his tenure, the bank’s assets grew from Rs225b billion to Rs1,084bn, deposits from Rs199bn to Rs828bn, and profit before tax from Rs4.5bn to Rs28.9bn, it added.

Microsoft reports strong sales of XBox One

WASHINGTON: Microsoft said it has sold more than five million XBox One consoles since they were launched in November.

The news came a day after video game competitor Sony said it had sold more than 7m PlayStation 4 consoles since mid-November.

Sony’s numbers refer to sales to consumers while Microsoft’s involve sales to retailers.

Sales of XBox One were 60 per cent higher than those of Microsoft’s earlier iteration XBox 360during the same length of time after it hit the market, Yusuf Medhi, vice president of marketing, strategy and business, wrote on the Microsoft blog in announcing the figures. Furthermore, the new game “Titanfall” was the world’s hottest selling game in March, said Mehdi.—AFP

Pak Suzuki launches new car

LAHORE: Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited (PSMCL) on Friday launched locally assembled WagonR 1,000cc.

The ex-factory prices of VX, VXR and VXL models are Rs899,000, Rs1,049,000 and Rs1,089,000 respectively while booking will get underway from April 19, 2014, a press release said.

Hirofumi Nagao, Managing Director PSMCL recalled that first generation of Wagon R was launched in Japan in 1993 and it became most popular model in quick span of time. It was also introduced in India and Indonesia. It also maintained status of bestselling car in Japan consecutively for six years, says a press release.
