Mirpurkhas cricketers selected for U-19 camp

MIRPURKHAS: Wahid Hussain Pahelwani, general secretary of the Mirpurkhas district cricket association, has said that around 100 U-19 cricketers participated in the trials held here at the PCB ground Mirpurkhas on Thursday.

The trials were held to select district Mirpurkhas team which will participate in the regional inter-district U-19 championship to be organised by the PCB.

Talking to Dawn here on Friday, Wahid added that a three-member selection committee comprising Shaukat Mirza, Aqeel Anjum and Atif Baloch picked 35 players from among the participants at the trials for a five-day training camp.

The camp begins at the PCB ground in Mirpurkhas on Saturday.

On completion of the camp, he added, 20 players would be selected for district Mirpurkhas team that will feature in the regional inter-district event starting on April 25.

Mirpurkhas play their event opener against against Hyderabad on April 25 at the Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad, the association official added.
