Afghan women

THIS refers to the report ‘The irreversible journey of Afghan women in election’ (April 11). According to a data in 2014, 35pc of 16 million eligible voters were women in Afghanistan. It is good to know that women living in Afghanistan are now standing up and fighting for their rights. After a long struggle and hardship these women have succeeded in taking part in elections.

Previously, women in Afghanistan were victimised and threatened by extremists but now they have gained liberation and these women have set an example for all others to follow that no matter how long you suffer or experience trouble, you have to raise your voice against your enemies.

In Pakistan, women from Gilgit-Baltistan are not allowed to participate freely in any social activities. I think the struggle for women’s liberation should go on till a positive outcome is reached.
