Medical student commits suicide

BAHAWALPUR: A student of the Quaid-i-Azam Medical College (QAMC) reportedly committed suicide by throwing himself in front a train at midnight near the railway station.

Shahnawaz of Islamabad, whose father is also a doctor, could not qualify his third year MBBS examination and failed in two papers. He was staying at the hostel of the Government Sadiq Commercial College near the railway track. At about midnight, he silently left his room, reached the railway track and threw himself before the moving train which tore his body into pieces. As the news spread, his class fellows rushed to scene from where his body was brought to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital.

The QAMC principal also reached the hospital and the deceased body was sent to Islamabad in a college bus.RECOVERED: Baghdadul Jadid police claimed to have recovered 12-year-old kidnapped boy and arrested three persons, including two eunuchs.

They said the boy, Naveed, was allegedly kidnapped from his house in Fauji Basti. Police grilled his friend Usman, who provided the clue to his whereabouts. Later, the police raided a place and recovered the boy from two eunuchs. One of the kidnappers was identified as Billo.

COMPLAINANT: Bahawalpur District and Sessions Judge Rashid Qamar has remarked that if a police official, who is a complainant in any case, could neither be an investigation officer (IO) in the same case or nor could its investigation be entrusted to him.

His stated this while announcing his decision in a bail application.

According to details, ASI Ata Muhammad, a complainant in a case, had lodged an FIR, stating that during his raid, he had recovered 200 gram charas from one Muhammad Shafiq. Later, ASI Ata Muhammad held investigation into the case.

During hearing of Shafiq's bail application, the court took its serious notice that the complainant was himself an IO.

The court ordered that in the future, police official, if he was a complainant in the case, could hold investigation into it. The court warned of action in case of violation of the court order.
