Six reported killed in North Waziristan blast, firing

PESHAWAR: At least six people were killed in two different incidents in the North Waziristan tribal region on Friday, local sources and officials confirmed.

According to an initial report, three people were killed when unknown attackers targeted the vehicle they were travelling inside in North Waziristan's Dattakhel tehsil via a remote-control bomb.

The men killed in the Dattakhel attack could not yet be identified.

Moreover, three people were killed and three others were injured in an incident of firing in Shawal tehsil of Miramshah.

Details on these incidents are still awaited but certain unnamed sources say these may be linked with the ongoing clashes between supporters of Khan Said Sajna and followers of the late Hakimullah Mehsud group. However, no relation could yet be confirmed between today's killings in the tribal region and the infighting between militant groups.

Both sides have been engaged in clashes since Sunday and the fighting has left over 30 militants killed on both sides. The clashes have reportedly been taking place in various parts of South and North Waziristan as well as in some settled areas.
