Kidnappings on the rise in Khairpur district

KHAIRPUR: A carpenter and his young helper were kidnapped in the latest incident amid a sudden rise in kidnapping for ransom cases in Khairpur district.

The carpenter, Ali Hyder Katpar, 24, and his helper, Zaheer, 14, were kidnapped on Agrra Road while they were on their way back home in Ismail village on a motorcycle after closing their shop in Jadu Wahan village on Wednesday night.

Followed their footprints, family members and relatives of the victims came to know that kidnappers had taken them to an area along Ali Bahar Wah (canal).

There has been growing unrest among the Khairpur people over the rising incidents of kidnapping. Other kidnap victims included a milk-seller, Sunny Maseeh and two telecom engineers and their driver.

Sukkur DIG Sharjeel Kharal, when contacted, said a major operation against criminals across the district would soon be launched to provide relief to Khairpur residents.
