At least 13 arrested in Karachi raids

KARACHI: Rangers personnel conducted targeted raids in Karachi’s Mohammad Khan Colony and Ittehad Town on Tuesday and arrested 13 suspects and recovered weapons, DawnNews reported.

The raids were carried out after the Rangers received a tip-off.

During the course of the raids, all entry and exit points of the two localities were sealed as the Rangers personnel raided various locations and made several arrests.

Three hundred personnel – including women officers and personnel of the anti-terrorist wing of Rangers – participated in Tuesday’s raids, DawnNews quoted a Rangers spokesperson as saying.

Three killed in city

One person was killed in a firing incident in Ittehad Town situated in the Baldia area of the city. Bodies of two women were also discovered from Quaid-e-Azam Colony and Mochko areas in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal’s region.

The police arrested a target killer and recovered weapons in a separate operation in the city’s Surjani Town.

Karachi, the largest metropolitan city of Pakistan, is riddled with targeted killings, gang wars, kidnappings for ransom, extortion and terrorism. Targeted operations led by Rangers’ forces with the support of police are ongoing in the city under a directive issued by the federal government against criminals already identified by federal, military and civilian agencies.
