Call for medical college in Nasirabad

QUETTA: The Balochistan Assembly adopted on Saturday two resolutions, one for the setting up of a medical college in Nasirabad division and the other for the establishment of a caucus for women in the assembly secretariat.

Rahat Bibi Jamali, who tabled the resolution for the medical college, said Nasirabad and Sibi had a large population and there was a need to set up a medical college for the students of two divisions.

Speaking on the resolution, lawmakers said Bolan Medical College in Quetta could not accommodate the growing number of students in the Nasirabad and Sibi divisions.

The resolution for the establishment of a caucus for women was tabled by Shahida Rauf.

Yasmeen Lehri tabled a resolution against the reduction of funds allocated for Balochistan in the federal Public Sector Development Programme. But, she did not press it after an assurance by Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch that he would take up the issue with the centre.

Deputy Opposition Leader Zamarak Khan raised the issue of raid on the house of ANP leader Dr Inayatullah Khan. Home Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said an investigation would be conducted into the matter.
