QUETTA: Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) president Maulana Mohammad Ahmed Ludhianvi has urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to announce amnesty for those who have taken up arms in Balochistan and said it will help in restoring peace in the province.

Speaking at a press conference here on Saturday, he called upon the government to ensure recovery of missing Baloch persons.

He said that Friday’s bomb blasts in Quetta and Peshawar were aimed at sabotaging talks between the government and Taliban. He alleged that agents of the United States, India, Israel and Iran were involved in the explosions as they wanted to destabilise Pakistan.

Successful talks would rid the country of subversive activities and pave the way for an end to terrorism, he said and asked political and religious leaders to support the government in the peace process.

Maulana Ludhianvi said that the ASWJ was against terrorism, extremism and sectarianism but even then its 60 activists had been arrested. He asked the government to release the arrested workers and curb targeted killing of ASWJ activists.
