Two-day supply to CNG stations from today

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday disposed of a set of petitions filed against suspension of gas supply to CNG stations after Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited assured the court of its resumption for two days a week from March 14 (today).

Counsel for the SNGPL stated the previous notification about suspension of gas supply had been withdrawn and a new one issued to restore it to CNG sector for two days a week.

Dozens of CNG station owners had filed the petitions pleading the suspension of gas supply was in violation of their basic rights and also against the agreement signed with the SNGPL. They sought court's directions for the government to restore the gas supply.

The court disposed of all the petitions following submission of the SNGPL reply.

Meanwhile, all CNG stations in five regions of Punjab (Lahore, Sheikhupura, Gujranwala, Multan and Sahiwal) will open on Friday (today) after three-month closure, APP adds.

The decision of gas supply suspension was taken keeping in view domestic users need in the winter season. The CNG stations will supply gas for 48 hours (Friday 6am to Sunday 6am) according to the new load management plan. Gas supply to Zone-II (Faisalabad, Sargodha, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur regions) will be restored on Tuesday.
