KARACHI: The Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) on Friday night ended a sit-in at the Guru Mandir traffic intersection after successful talks with AIG police Karachi Shahid Hayat Khan and others.

According to DIG (east) Munir Ahmed Shaikh, the protesters ended their sit-in after presenting three main demands.

The sit-in had started after Juma as the district south police blocked a road leading to the Iranian consulate in Clifton.

The ASWJ leaders, including Maulana Mohammed Ahmed Ludhianvi, Allama Aurangzeb Farooqi, addressed the protesters.

An ASWJ spokesperson said they had three main demands: “The interference of Iran in Pakistan must be stopped; detained ‘sectarian’ suspects are brought before the media and the Iranian consul general’s undesirable activities must be stopped.”

The Iranian consulate has already denied the allegations.

Meanwhile, a portion of the road leading to the Iranian consulate in Clifton remained blocked from the Dau Talwar to Park Tower to prevent the protesters from staging a protest demonstration there, said Clifton ASP.
