NOC for Keyal Khwar project

LAHORE: The German Development Bank (KfW) on Tuesday issued no objection certificate to Wapda for 122MW Keyal Khwar Hydropower Project.

The project follows Khan Khwar (72MW), Alai Khwar (121MW) and Dubair Khwar (130MW) — all being built on the tributaries of the Indus. Khan Khwar and Alai Khwar have already started generation whereas Dubair Khwar is on the test run. Keyal Khwar is located on a right side tributary of the Indus in Dasu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It is scheduled to be completed in four years and would provide 426 million units of low-cost electricity to the national grid.

KfW and European Investment Bank are providing 97 million Euro and 100 million Euro each for the project. The preliminary work of the project are already in progress. Now, the contractor for initiation of construction work on the main project will mobilise to the site after signing of the contract.
