LAHORE, June 25: The NBP-Punjab Inter-district hockey championship revived after a lapse  of 18 years when its preliminary round will be held at four different centres from July 1 to 6.

In all, 35 teams of the 34 districts of Punjab will play the preliminary round at the four centres which are Vehari, Dera Ghazi Khan, Narowal and Khanpur.

President Punjab Hockey Association (PHA) Khawaja Zarar Kaleem while  addressing at a press conference here on Wednesday said that Vehari had included two teams, therefore, the total number of the teams had been increased to 35.

Zarar said that top two teams of each centre would qualify for the final round to be held in Lahore from July 15 to 20.

When asked why the PHA  had included Sialkot in the competition despite there were two groups  existing, the PHA secretary said that matter would be solved before June  30.

Groups:

Vehari:  Vehari  “A”, “B”, Pakpattan, Layyah,  Khushab,  Sahiwal, Khanewal, Multan, Sargodha, Mianwali.

Dera  Ghazi Khan: Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Toba Tek Singh, Kasur, Lahore, Lodhran, Bhakhar.

Narowal: Narowal, Sialkot, Okara, Faisalabad, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Jhang, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat.

Khanpur: Rahimyar Khan, Chakwal, Sheikhupura, Attock, Jhelum, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, Khanpur.
