Principles of Islam
THE entire nation celebrated Eid Miladun Nabi with religious zeal and fervour. The well-off distributed food among the poor and needy and [people] offered prayers to show their love for the last Prophet (PBUH). … Similarly, religious scholars in their sermons urged the people to follow in the footsteps of the Prophet and the teachings of the Holy Quran. … No doubt, the last Prophet is a blessing for the entire humanity, who always taught the people to hold fast to the rope of Allah and move on the right path. … The problems we are being faced with today are due to our negligence because we have never taken [Islamic teachings] seriously. …
Muslims are busy shedding the blood of other Muslims and taking away each other’s rights, yet at the same time they also hope for a place in paradise. There is always a difference in the words and deeds of people, but even then they feel pride in [cheating] others for the sake of personal gain. In the present era, Muslims are facing problems due to their own bad intentions, despite the fact that they know well the consequences of wrongdoing.
The last Prophet in his sermons had clearly warned that before our Creator the best one is he who follows the principles of Islam, keeps himself/herself away from evils and does right. Every year Eid Miladun Nabi is a reminder to avoid indulging in evil, and to serve humanity in good faith. … If we really follow the principles of Islam then there will be no violence, militancy or terrorism in society. —(Jan 15)
