WATCHING a film in winter about a world that is frozen, is certainly a very chilling experience but an animated movie as good as Frozen really makes it a great experience.

This Disney release is about two sisters, princesses Elsa (voiced by Idina Menzel) and Anna (Kristen Bell), with Elsa having a special power that can make her turn things to ice and snow whenever she is emotionally charged. So after accidentally hurting her sister in childhood, she is kept away from the outside world to prevent her from doing any damage. After her parents’ untimely death, Elsa becomes the queen but ends up turning her kingdom into a frozen world. Everyone now considers her a witch and she goes into exile in a snow castle on a far away mountain. Anna then sets about bringing her back and for that she first gets Hans (Santino Fontana), a prince from a neighbouring kingdom whom she has become engaged to thinking she is in love with him, to help her and then Kristoff (Jonathan Groff), a hunky ice trader.

Loosely based on the fairy tale The Snow Queen, Frozen is a charming musical with lots of other characters that add to the magic of this movie. Most of the comic element is provided by a funny little snowman, Olaf (Josh Gad) and Kristoff’s cute reindeer Sven is as adorable as animals get in a Disney movie.

The soundtrack of the movie is another of its highlights besides the visuals, with songs such as “Let it Go” and “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” being the best of the lot.

Frozen is a delightful treat of 2013 and worth watching with a hot cup of cocoa and bag of popcorns.
