LAHORE, Dec 13: One-sided matches were witnessed as the Punjab Open Tennis Tournament entered the quarter-finals phase at the Bagh-i-Jinnah grass courts here on Friday.

In the first pre-quarterfinal, Davis Cupper Mohammad Abid outclassed Umar Babar 6-2, 6-1 while Zain Abbas outclassed Aqeel Sarfraz 6-0, 6-0 in their pre-quarter clash.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Mudassir was declared winner when his opponent Sikander Hayat retired hurt during the second set after losing the first one 2-6 in their pre-quarter match. Mudassir was 1-0 up in the second set when Sikander opted to leave the court due to fitness problems.

In other pre-quarterfinal matches, Ahmed Babar ousted Mohammad Ahmed 6-1, 6-3, Usman Rafiq crushed Malik Humza 6-1, 6-3 while Heera Aashiq blanked Zaryab Pirzada 6-0, 6-0.
