Ordeal of ATM clients

WHEN there were no Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs), people used to withdraw money during their working hours during the day. However, with the introduction of ATMs, they could take out their money anytime, thus increasing public liquidity.

Sadly, in Pakistan ATMs are somehow becoming obsolete, as they are not serving the purpose they had been installed here for.

Most of the ATMs only serve during office hours when even banks remain open. During non-working hours, they message: ‘Sorry, the ATM is temporarily disconnected from the network,’ ‘Out of cash’ or ‘Your transaction could not be completed due to software problem,’ leaving the customer wandering here and there in search of a machine that would give him purchasing power. The condition gets worse in case of an emergency.

Credit goes to Pakistan/Watan card and BISP beneficiaries who cause ATMs’ malfunction while attempting erroneously for withdrawing their grants.

I request the authorities concerned to take urgent measures to resolve the issue.
