Three-day book fair opens at BZU

MULTAN, Nov 20: Bahauddin Zakariya University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Khawaja Alqama inaugurated three-day book fair on Wednesday.

The vice-chancellor said that book fairs had great significance because the book reading habit was fast diminishing in the age of information technology.

He said the university and books were indispensable to each other as knowledge could not exist without books and no nation could progress without knowledge.

Dr Alqama said the purpose of organizing the event was to provide an opportunity to faculty members and students to buy books of their interest under one roof and to promote book reading habit.

Dozens of known publishers, book-sellers, IT companies and career-counseling centres have established their stalls and are offering 10 to 50 percent discount on local and foreign books.

The book fair covering a large variety of books, including all major disciplines like social sciences, media studies, computer sciences, management sciences, human resources and development studies, is getting an overwhelming response from the staff and students.
