PIA to assist Saudi airline

KARACHI: The Pakistan International Airlines has agreed in principle to give assistance to the Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAA) in “all spheres”, a PIA spokesman said in Karachi yesterday.

A PIA team would visit Jeddah in this connection in the near future, he said. Pakistan, he said, would study how to give practical shape to the Saudi Arabian Airlines’ request for assistance.

The five-man Saudi Arabian team concluded a three-day visit here yesterday and left for Jeddah by Saudi Arabian Airlines.

The delegation, led by the SAA Chairman, Mr Ajmad Salas Janjun, studied the working of PIA and visited shops and installations during their visit.

The delegation also had discussions with top PIA executives during which they asked for personnel and other assistance.

According to PIA officials, the purpose of the visit of the delegation was to study the working of the PIA and see if it was suited to the requirements of the Saudi Arabian Airlines. — Agencies
