Govt’s new list of entities, assets to be privatised

ISLAMABAD: The PML-N government has drawn up a new and expanded list of state-owned organisations and assets which will be privatised.

A list prepared by the Privatisation Commission and obtained by DawnNews shows that more than 60 organisations and assets are slated to be privatised fully or partially.

The list includes the names of 32 organisations which have already been cleared for privatisation by the cabinet committee on privatisation. These organisations are to be privatised within the next 12 months.

The National Bank of Pakistan is among the government-owned organisations likely to be privatised during the first phase of the programme, according to sources. Up to 26 per cent of its shares will be sold.

A surprise inclusion in the list is the Convention Centre, Islamabad. Electricity distribution companies are also on the list. The complete list is attached.
