Concession on 15 rail routes from 21st

LAHORE, Oct 8: The Pakistan Railways notified on Tuesday concession in fares to commuters opting to travel in various classes of six trains on 15 routes with effect from Oct 21.

According to a notification, the concession will be applicable on economy class of Karachi and Millat expresses besides railcar; on AC Sleeper class of Khyber Mail, Tezgam, Karachi and Jaffar expresses; AC Business class of Jaffar Khyber Mail, Tezgam, Karachi and Millat expresses; on AC Parlour and Standard classes of railcar.

The economy class fare of Karachi Express will be Rs1,130 instead of Rs1,520 per passenger from Lahore to Karachi; of Millat Express Rs1,130 instead of Rs1,520 from Karachi to Sargodha; of Millat Express Rs1,050 instead of Rs1,470 from Karachi to Faisalabad and of Railcar Rs340 instead of Rs440 from Lahore to Rawalpindi.

The AC Sleeper class fare of Khyber Mail will be Rs4,000 instead of Rs5,370 from Karachi to Lahore; of Tezgam Rs4,000 instead of Rs5,370 from Karachi to Lahore; of Karachi Express Rs4,000 instead of Rs5,370 from Karachi to Lahore; of Tezgam Rs4,700 instead of Rs6,300 from Rawalpindi to Karachi; of Jaffar Express Rs4,490 instead of Rs6,300 from Quetta to Rawalpindi; and of Jaffar Express Rs3,780 instead of Rs5,300 from Quetta to Lahore. The AC Business class fare of Jaffar Express will be Rs4,110 instead of Rs4,650 from Quetta to Rawalpindi; of Jaffar Express Rs3,590 instead of Rs4,020 from Quetta to Lahore; of Khyber Mail, Tezgam and Karachi Express Rs3,000 instead of Rs3,570 from Karachi to Lahore; of Millat Express Rs2,760 instead of Rs3,270 from Faisalabad to Karachi; of Khyber Mail and Tezgam Rs3,400 instead of Rs4,780 from Rawalpindi to Karachi; and of Khyber Mail Rs3,710 instead of Rs5,220 from Peshawar to Karachi.

The AC Parlour class fare of Railcar will be Rs840 instead of Rs910 from Rawalpindi to Lahore while the AC Standard class fare of Railcar would be Rs630 instead of Rs690 from Rawalpindi to Lahore.

Eid package

The Pakistan Railways will operate five special trains to facilitate people on Eidul Azha.

Two Eid trains from Karachi and one each from Quetta, Peshawar and Rawalpindi will be operated and fares would be reduced by 40 per cent in all passenger trains on three Eid days, said an announcement on Tuesday.

On Oct 13, the first special train will leave Karachi station at 11am for Peshawar via Lahore. It will arrive in Peshawar at 10pm the next day.

The second special train will leave Quetta station at 12 noon for Rawalpindi and arrive in Rawalpindi the next day at 6:45pm.

On Oct 14, the third special train will leave the Karachi station at 11am for Lahore through Faisalabad. It will arrive at the destination the next day at 11:30am.

On Oct 15, the fourth special train will leave the Peshawar station at 12 noon to arrive in Lahore the next day at 9:10am through Rawalpindi.

The fifth special train will leave the Rawalpindi station at 7pm to arrive in Multan the same day at 11pm through Attock, Daud Khel, Kundian, Bhakkar and Kot Addu.

The reservation offices of the Pakistan Railways will remain closed on Eidul Azha (Oct 16), says an announcement. Tickets can be bought after 2pm at these offices on the second day of Eid (Oct 17).

All reservation offices would observe routine timing from the following day.

Some 41 stations on the Railways network have computerised ticketing and reservation system. The computerised ticketing system not only allows railway authorities to check seat occupancy of trains throughout their routes but also offers a facility to passengers to get even their return ticket reserved.

All these offices are inter-linked through fibre optic and tickets for major express trains are available along with return-ticket facility.
