Spelling Bee contest starts in Skardu

SKARDU, Sept 24: The 9th Dawn in Education Spelling Bee Competition 2013 started in Skardu and competitions for children in the age groups of 9-11 and 12-14 were held on Tuesday. The competition for the age group 15-17 will be held on Wednesday (today) at the Mashabrum Hotel, Skardu.

According to a press release, over 200 children from nearly 30 schools of Skardu district are participating in the competitions despite security issues.

On Sept 24 the children competed in the age groups of 9 to 11 and 12 to 14.

Details of the winners of each group and their schools, who shall be participating in the Regional Championship of Dawn in Education Spelling Bee Competition Islamabad 2013, are as follows:

AGE GROUP 9-11: Skardu Regional Champion of 9-11 is Zuhair Ahmed from Pepper Dine Schools Network, Boys Campus, Skardu; 1st runner-up is Mohammad Danial from Pepper Dine Schools Network, Boys Campus, Skardu; and the second runner-up is Shehnawaz Haider from Uswa Public School and College, Boys Campus, Skardu.

AGE GROUP 12-14: Skardu Regional Champion of 12-14 is Filza Ayub Wazir from Pepper Dine Schools Network, Girls Campus, Skardu; 1st runner-up is Wazir Ahmed Salman from Pepper Dine Schools Network, Boys Campus, Skardu; and second runner-up is Abida Parveen from Pepper Dine Schools Network, Girls Campus, Skardu.

According to the statement, the 15-17 age group competition is expected to take place on Wednesday and the winners will be announced soon.
