Multan arts council’s bid to revive family theatre
MULTAN, Sept 16: The Multan Arts Council (MAC) has initiated a bid to promote family theatre in order to provide healthy recreation to families, highlight local culture and groom talent of local artists.
The district government is offering assistance to the MAC to facilitate drama production and attract families in feature. Special passes and tickets against Rs150 and Rs200 denomination are also being issued for newly-launched drama “Dil hi to hay” which is attracting a good number of viewers. Its story revolves around social issues.
Community Development EDO Asif Ali Farrukh told APP that it was a bid to revive drama in the arts council and offer recreation to families.
He hoped the success of the family dramas would surely help promote art and culture in the region.
Sarfaraz Naqvi, a spectator who came along with family to watch the drama, said it was a good effort by the arts council administration.
Renowned Poet Shakir Husain Shakir also appreciated the launch of drama in arts council and said it would also promote literary values not only in the city but also in the region. He recalled that once Multan was home of arts and many noted actors, poets and dramatists were recognition of Multan.
MAC acting director Saleem Qaisar said the council organised different events round the year, but from now on the drama production would be the main feature.
He stated they were getting encouraging response from the spectators.
