Wapda enter women, men badminton finals

LAHORE, Sept 10: Pakistan Wapda entered both men’s and women’s team events finals in the 15th All Pakistan Aamer Hayat Khan Rokhri Ranking badminton tournament at the New Khan Hall here on Tuesday.

In the women’s final, Wapda will face the challenge from Punjab while men’s second finalist is yet to be decided between KP and Sindh.

Men’s team semi-final:

Wapda beat Punjab 3-2:

Singles: Azeem Sarwar (Punjab) bt Wajid Ali (Wapda) 21-13, 21-8; Awais Zahid (Wapda) bt Hafiz Irfan (Punjab) 21-18, 21-17; Hashir Basheer (Wapda) bt Subhan Jameel (Punjab) 21-10, 21-13.

Doubles: Zeeshan-Attique (Wapda) bt Subhan-Amir Saeed (Punjab) 23-21, 21-17; Azeem Sarwar-Hafiz Irfan (Punjab) bt Taimoor-Awais (Wapda) 18-21, 21-9, 21-18.

Women’s team semi-finals:

First semi-final:

Wapda beat Sindh 3-1:

Singles: Mahoor (Sindh) bt Sara Razaq (Wapda) 21-13, 21-12; Khizra (Wapda) bt Saba (Sindh) 21-5, 22-20.

Doubles: Saima-Sadia (Wapda) bt Mahoor-Saba (Sindh) 21-10, 21-11; Aneela-Sumera (Wapda) bt Sofia-Yusra (Sindh) 21-10, 21-12.

Second semi-final:

Punjab beat KP 3-0:

Singles: Ghazala (Punjab) bt Arfa Hassan (KP) 21-15, 21-11; Mehmoona (Punjab) bt Aqsa Hassan (KP) 21-15, 21-10.

Doubles: Ghazala-Manal (Punjab) bt Arfa-Aqsa (KP) 21-18, 19-21, 21-9.
