1,000MW solar project in Cholistan soon

BAHAWALPUR, Sept 3: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said a 1,000MW solar energy project will soon be launched on 10,000 acres in Cholistan and completed on emergency basis.

He said this while talking to the media in Din Garh in Cholistan on Tuesday.

The CM said there would be a provision for expansion of the project in the future. He further said a well-green horticulture village in the proposed area of the project would also be established later. This village would have all basic and modern facilities such as roads network, filtration plants, children’s recreation parks, community centre, mosque and civil dispensary.

Answering a question, the CM said a strict monitoring system for checking standards of the development work in the park would be introduced. In order to ensure complete transparency a third party audit would also be conducted. He also said security and safety of foreign investors and engineers would also be ensured.

He assured local Cholistanis they would be given jobs in the mega project, adding the government was taking measures on priority basis to solve the energy crisis in the province.

Earlier, Commissioner Capt Asdullah Khan retired briefed the CM and told him 10 to 12 hours of sunlight in the desert could make the solar project a complete success.
