Demo against release of murder suspect SHO

GUJRANWALA Aug 26: The family and friends of a youth killed by Sohdra police in an alleged encounter on Aug 15 demonstrated on Monday outside the office of the city police officer (CPO) against the release of a police official booked in the murder of the youth.

According to protesters, mostly women, Qaisar, of Lohianwala, was killed

by the police in Kotli Behram, Sohdra, where he had gone to meet his grandparents.

They claimed the deceased was an eyewitness to the murders of six people of the locality.

Sohdra Station House Officer (SHO) Faiz Rasool and his men killed him to damage the murder cases. Later, the police arrested the SHO and a dozen other officials only to release them after a week.

Women staged a sit down on Kutchery Road and blocked traffic. They dispersed when CPO Raja Riffat assured them that accused police officials would be re-arrested. — Correspondent
