Two oil tankers, bus torched

QUETTA, Aug 1: Gunmen on motorcycles attacked two oil-tankers on Thursday and set them on fire after they stopped and a bus was destroyed when flames from one tanker engulfed it.

Levies forces said a Quetta-bound tanker was carrying fuel for Pakistan Air Force in Keri Door area when it came under attack in Dasht area of Mastung district. The driver escaped unhurt but leaping flames engulfed a Jacobabad-bound bus when it tried to pass by the tanker on the road. No one was reported injured as terrified passengers managed to jump out of the bus.

Both vehicles were gutted and traffic on the main Quetta-Sibi highway remained suspended for a couple of hours.

In the other incident, an oil-tanker going to Chaman from Karachi was attacked by gunmen near Dhadar area of Kachhi district, Levies officials said. The tanker caught fire and was burned down. The attack left the driver injured.

Further investigation was in progress.
