Sharifs build party support for Sarwar

LAHORE, July 23: It appears that the Sharifs have decided to induct Chaudhry Sarwar as the Punjab governor as the Directorate General of Public Relations has started building a campaign in his favour by releasing statements of various MPs supporting his appointment.

A press release issued on Tuesday said Punjab Assembly acting speaker Sher Ali Gorchani, MNAs Tahir Bashir Cheema, Mian Alam Daad Lalika, Syed Ali Hasan Gilani, Najeebuddin Awaisi and MPAs Zahid Akram, Rana Rauf, Shaukat Ali Lalika, Ijaz Shafi, Khalid Jujja, Shoaib Awaisi, Khalid Waran and Chaudhry Shafique, all belonging to south Punjab, in their joint statement said Chaudhry Sarwar was a non-controversial personality who was well-known for his valuable services for Pakistan in the field of social, political and economic sectors.

They said by renouncing his British citizenship, he had set a laudable example, which was proof of his being a true Pakistani.

They said the decision by the leadership with regard to the office of Punjab governor would be accepted wholeheartedly.

They refuted the impression that the MPs from south Punjab had reservations on assigning some important responsibilities to Mr Sarwar.

They said all members of national and provincial assemblies, belonging to southern Punjab, reposed their confidence in him and would extend him full support if any important responsibility was assigned to him.
